Holy Shakes has 'best desserts in town' and wild milkshakes

'They're pretty big, sometimes enough to share with two people,' said owner about extravagant milkshakes

Holy Shakes has only been open for three weeks, but it’s already a big hit in the community.

“It's been crazy busy. We have been getting a very good response,” said co-owner Haroon Naseer.

“People have been loving it, and they keep coming back.”

If you have a sweet tooth, it won’t be hard to see why.

With milkshakes, cheesecake, waffles, ice cream, and other snacks, Holy Shakes offers desserts ranging from traditional to extravagant.

Whether you’re in the mood for a standard chocolate or strawberry milkshake, or a more lavish version with cookies, M&M’s, or even an entire slice of cheesecake on top – the new restaurant in Pine Plaza has you covered.

Milkshakes range in price. The ‘Super Freakshakes’ category offers an array of dessert-laden milkshake varieties to enjoy.

“If you're getting a strawberry milkshake, it might have a strawberry cheesecake on it. If you're getting a waffle Super Freak shake, it might have a couple waffles on it,” Naseer said.

“They're pretty big, sometimes enough to share with two people.”

Customers are also free to take the mason jars and bottles the shakes are served in back home with them, and they can get a five-per-cent discount on shakes if they bring them back in, Naseer said.

If you like to eat before having dessert, Holy Shakes also has burgers, naan tacos and other Indian-Mexican fusion foods, rice bowls, wraps, and more.

“From burgers to fish, wings and poutine, we've got it all, and our food is equally as good as our shakes,” Naseer said.

Beyond food, Holy Shakes also has a foosball table and a ‘Unity and Diversity’ mural on its wall.

Naseer said he hopes it becomes a place for everyone to enjoy – from “teenagers to grandma and grandpas.”

“Me and my partner decided to open up a spot where people could hang out in winter, in summer, with their families, and they could not only enjoy a good dessert – probably the best desserts in town – but also have a place to hang out,” he said.

Holy Shakes is located at 701 Pine Street.

It’s open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. – and until midnight from Friday to Sunday.
