As SooToday reported earlier this week, Pizza Fest has been sliced.
The downtown event — a chance for Saultites to sample some pies and vote on their favourite — was held for the first time last summer.
But this year's second annual edition, scheduled for Aug. 24, has been cancelled due to a lack of interest from local pizzerias, the city says.
“We regret to announce that Pizza Fest will not be taking place this year due to lower-than-expected vendor participation,” said Josh Ingram, supervisor of the downtown plaza. “We appreciate the community’s understanding and support and hope to revisit the event at a more suitable time in the future.”
In the meantime, here is something else you can revisit: a slice of great content from SooToday.
In advance of last year's event, videographer Drew Armstrong visited pizza parlours across the city to ask a very tough question: In a community famous for its pizza, what's your favourite — besides your own?
