VIDEO: Filmmaker said returning here is 'like coming home'

Sergio Navarretta's first movie, Looking for Angelina, was filmed in the Sault

After 20 years, director Sergio Navarretta is filming in Sault Ste. Marie for the second time.

Navarretta's first movie, Looking for Angelina, was filmed in the Sault in 2004.

Looking for Angelina was based on the true story of Angelina Napolitano, a 28-year-old Italian immigrant and mother of four who killed her abusive husband Pietro in Sault Ste. Marie's "Little Italy."

Shot in 14 days entirely on location in the Sault Ste. Marie, with the help of hundreds of local talent, this period piece film was in half English and half Italian with English subtitles.

He and the crew on his latest film, What We Have Left, spoke with SooToday about how beautiful the north is and the importance of film as an artistic medium.
