Victim lost consciousness in a public bathroom due to assault

The accused, who was not known to the victim, is facing an assault charge following an altercation that occurred inside a commercial restroom last month

Sault police officers charged a 56-year-old man on Saturday after someone was assaulted in a bathroom at a business on Great Northern Road. 

The incident occurred on Oct. 29 at a business in the 0-100 block of Great Northern Road. 

"An investigation revealed a suspect, who is not known to the victim, assaulted them in a bathroom, causing them to lose consciousness," police said in a news release.

The victim was transported to hospital with minor physical injuries.

Officers located and arrested Mark Mitchell, who is charged with assault, on Saturday.

Mitchell was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 29.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Mitchell is considered innocent until proven guilty.
