Charges have been laid after police seized over $92,000 in suspected drugs.
Police in the Peterborough area launched an investigation in May into drug trafficking activity in that area.
As their investigation progressed, they involved police in the Sault Ste. Marie area.
Just after 4 p.m. on Friday, August 1, Ontario Provincial Police pulled over a vehicle in Garden River First Nation.
Sault Ste. Marie Police took custody of the suspect and helped search the vehicle.
They say they found about 500.3 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 280.52 grams of suspected fentanyl, cutting agents, around $730 in Canadian currency and two cellular devices.
Stephanie Giles, 29, of Peterborough has been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
