Sault man charged with impaired at RIDE checkpoint

One person was charged with impaired driving at a weekend RIDE checkpoint.

Sault Ste. Marie Police were set up along Bay Street on Saturday when a vehicle pulled up at around 11 p.m.

Officers suspected the driver was impaired by alcohol.

Police say the driver failed a breath test, and further breath samples at the Police Services Building all registered above the legal limit.

David McBride, 62, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
  • Dangerous Operation

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
