November 22, downtown Sault Ste. Marie streets will be filled with Santas! And it won’t be just the jolly old elf at the end of the Santa Claus Parade!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie is excited to present the Soo’s very first Big Santa Run!
“The Big Santa Run is Sault Ste. Marie’s first-ever holiday fun run, hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie! This exciting new event invites participants of all ages to walk, jog or run, dressed head to toe in Santa suits!” explained a Big Brothers Big Sisters spokesperson.
“The goal is to create a fun, family-friendly event that brings the community together while raising funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mentoring programs that support local children and youth.”
Don’t have a spare Santa suit in your closet? No problem!
“Every registration includes a Santa suit, so the streets will be filled with Santas spreading holiday cheer before the start of the Rotary Santa Claus Parade! Participants are encouraged to dress up, have fun, and enjoy the festive atmosphere as they help launch a new holiday tradition in Sault Ste. Marie!”
Registration is open now, through the Big Brothers Big Sisters website, here. A single registration is $30, while a family (two parents and three kids) is $50, and a group of adults is $130. Each participant receives a Santa suit, hat, and beard, as part of their registration.
“This event is a chance to start a brand-new holiday tradition in our city; one that celebrates togetherness, kindness and giving back,” enthused the spokesperson. “By joining the Big Santa Run, participants are not only spreading Christmas cheer but also helping us bring positive change to young lives and making Sault Ste. Marie an even brighter place during the holidays.”

Participants can run, walk, or jog. Participants will check in at the Canadian Bushplane parking lot, before 4 p.m. The run will start just before the Rotary Santa Claus Parade and follow that same parade route throughout the downtown.
