SooToday received the following letter from a reader concerned with the number of dogs off leash during summer walks at Bellevue Park

I am really upset with some dog owners. During the summer months, I went to Bellevue Park for daily walks.

Each and every day I had to discontinue my walk because some dog owner’s feel it is OK to let their dogs off the leash.

I was under the impression by the signs posted dogs must be on leashes. I give dog owners credit that they are taking care of their dog with daily exercise. However some dog owners do not respect me, I am very scared of a dog or dogs and do not appreciate cutting my walks short due to the owners lack of respect.

There are some owners who do not clean up after their dogs. We should be taking care of the environment. These place are built for the people of this city to enjoy.

The city has provided a place for dog to be off their leashes and run. Many people have said to me my dog won’t hurt anyone.

As a person afraid of dogs this does not make me comfortable. I should be able to go for a walk and feel safe and not have a loose dog running towards me.

How many people in this city feel the same way I do?
