'Quite magical': Sault woman crowned Miss Galaxy Canada

With a background in dance, theatre, and advocacy, the Sault's Emma Dingle has earned a spot at the Miss Galaxy International Pageant in Texas

The Sault’s Emma Dingle has been crowned Miss Galaxy Canada 2026.

“To compete and to win was so exciting. It was quite magical being crowned on stage,” Dingle told SooToday.

The Miss Galaxy Canada 2026 Pageant was held in Toronto Oct. 24 - 26.

"Canada Galaxy Pageants is all about empowering girls and women to be the best versions of themselves," their website says. "We want to give everyone the opportunity to express themselves and to strive for greatness."

Winners were chosen in several age groups, the 23-year-old Dingle taking the crown in the 19-to-27-year-old age bracket.

Her win as Miss Galaxy Canada 2026 is not her first victory at a pageant.

Dingle won the Miss Ontario Regional Canada Pageant in Sudbury in 2024.

“I’ve always loved being on stage,” Dingle said.

Dingle’s stage experience includes competitive dance with Elite Dance Force, singing and involvement in theatre. She has also co-choreographed theatre productions for the Musical Comedy Guild and Shot in the Dark Theatre.

Dingle is a Superior Heights Collegiate graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Global Business and Digital Arts from the University of Waterloo.

After taking the Miss Ontario Regional Canada Pageant crown, Dingle entered the Miss Galaxy Canada 2026 competition.

“They always say the pageant bug comes back and it did. It's become a big passion of mine,” Dingle said.

The Miss Galaxy Canada 2026 Pageant included an interview with judges and on stage modelling in a swimsuit and evening gown.

“The interview is the largest percentage in our score. You're basically explaining why you should be the title holder and what you'll do with your year as title holder,” Dingle said.

Though passionate about many causes, Dingle told judges of her love for the arts.

“My platform project as Miss Galaxy Canada is called Artful Hearts. It centres around building confidence and self-esteem in youth through the arts. I'm big on advocating for arts education. My whole life I've been involved in the arts.”

Over the course of the next year, Dingle is required to make a series of public appearances, some of which will be in the Sault, others across Canada.

“Sometimes it's volunteering time to help with events. I've done public speaking engagements. I really love going into schools. That's a really fun one for me. I get to go into a classroom and talk with students about self-confidence or the arts.”

Dingle, who works full-time in marketing at Women In Crisis, is also dedicated to raising awareness of gender-based violence.

“That will always be a very important cause to me and something I will always talk about. In my last pageant, there was a written essay component and I wrote about ending gender-based violence and declaring it an epidemic in Ontario. I think it's important to talk about those things and the work our team at Women In Crisis does is just incredible. On top of providing shelter for women and children fleeing abuse, we also have a lot of events and outreach. We have staff that go into schools and talk about healthy relationships.”

Dingle will represent Canada at the Miss Galaxy International Pageant in San Antonio, Texas in August, 2026.

“It's definitely a big responsibility. It's an honour to be a representative for any organization, especially one like Galaxy which is very well known in the pageant industry. I feel very thankful.”

Dingle was not the only Sault woman who entered Galaxy's pageant.

Ann Ficociello, who represented Sault Ste. Marie as a delegate in the 2025 Miss Universe Canada Pageant in Windsor in August, was fourth runner up in the Ms. Galaxy Canada category for women 28 and over.
