If you’re trying to keep up with Owen Kjiersdam, better known by his stage name OwenMK, good luck.

He’s already working on his next three projects.

A few weeks ago, Kjiersdam released RIPGarageband, a self-produced, surprise album made on his 2009 desktop computer.

“I was in the process of getting a new laptop,” he says.

“So I decided to make one last album on my old computer that still has GarageBand on it. It felt like the perfect way to close a chapter on my older music.”

The project, which he dropped for free on SoundCloud, wasn’t just an afterthought but rather a farewell party for a creative tool that shaped his early sound.

“It’s actually a great album, but not meant to be taken too seriously,” he says.

“They’re freestyle songs I recorded just for fun.”

In many ways RIPGarageband was an appetizer for the main course of his musical meal, The Great Valley.

The electro-synth artist and filmmaker just released The Great Valley, a new full-length album packed with dreamy production, collaborations, and no fewer than eight promotional music videos.

The Great Valley takes the fun of RIPGarageband to another level.

Kjiersdam worked closely with long-time producer Joel Kahtava, who built the beats in FL Studio.

He also teamed up with Marco (also known as Cusped), who contributed vocals on Midnight, produced Dandelions, and played guitar on On My Own.

Singer Sandra Deluca joins on Outlook, continuing a collaboration that started on his first studio album, All Life.

The new album has a cohesive, emotionally rich sound, but Kjiersdam is always thinking in visuals too.

He directed or co-produced music videos for eight of the 12 tracks.

“Yeah, I probably would go all the way and do 12,” he said with a laugh.

“I love creating content.”

One of his favourites in the works is for the song Mona Lisa, currently in post-production with filmmaker Justine Chalykoff.

“It was filmed at the Friends of the Library space at the public library,” he says, a nod to one of his many community connections, a place he volunteers.

For Kjiersdam, video isn’t just an add-on – it’s central to his expression.

“It reflects my personal journey,” he says.

“Every video I create ends up inspiring another idea.”

That steady momentum might seem overwhelming to some but Kjiersdam thrives in constant motion.

He says he always feels the need to stay busy.

“Emotion is definitely what drives me to create.”

Even with The Great Valley just launched, he’s already eyeing what’s next: Infinity, an EP coming out on Aug. 22, and a rock album sung in Japanese slated for 2026.

“I don’t speak Japanese fluently,” he admits.

“I write my lyrics in English, run them through Google Translate, and then memorize how to pronounce them. With my autism, I’ve found I can sound them out and perform them well.”

It’s a technique he’s already used on tracks like Promises and Dandelions (Gaelic Version) from The Great Valley.

Kjiersdam’s reach is growing, but for now, he’s still grounded in his community, surrounded by friends and collaborators, and he's committed to evolving creatively.

“This is still all pretty new,” he says.

You can stream The Great Valley on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube.

And for a nostalgic ride through OwenMK’s roots, RIPGarageband is available for free on SoundCloud.
