The Ontario Hockey League is mourning the loss of former London Knights goaltender Jake Patterson, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 31.

In the crease for the Knights’ thrilling Game 7 OHL Championship win over the Barrie Colts in 2013, Patterson made back-to-back trips to the Memorial Cup as the Knights hosted the annual event a year later in 2014.

Originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Patterson was chosen in the seventh round of the 2010 OHL Priority Selection by the Plymouth Whalers before stringing together 43 wins over parts of three seasons with the Knights from 2011-14.

He played the 2014-15 season with the Chatham Maroons of the GOHL.

A GoFundMe has been started, with proceeds benefitting Patterson's three-year-old son, Luca.

The Knights will hold a moment of silence for Patterson ahead of tonight's matchup at home to the Ottawa 67’s.
