Man, 27, charged with second-degree murder in Port Colborne, Ont.: police

Police in Niagara Region say a man has been charged with murder in a homicide investigation in Port Colborne, Ont.

Police say they responded to a report of a possible weapons incident on Fares Street Wednesday morning, and a man was found dead inside a home.

They say the man has been identified as 42-year-old Mark Pero.

Police say there was a temporary hold-and-secure order at local schools while they searched for a suspect, who was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the 27-year-old suspect has been charged with second-degree murder.

They allege he was involved in "several other incidents" before the homicide, and he's been additionally charged with domestic assault, possession of a firearm and other offences.
