As member and ROTARYFEST co-chair Rod Goodall says, "Being an active member of Rotary is simply thinking a little less about you and your time, and a little bit more of how you could spend just a bit of that time helping others. We’re all busy, but when a team like ours pulls together, it’s amazing what can be accomplished!”
Goodall cites just some of the local initiatives, “Our Rotary club is involved in the community with a wide variety of help for programs, agencies, and equipment purchases. Everything from therapeutic horse riding to children’s playground equipment, tree planting, investing in the new downtown plaza, rickshaw rides for seniors, and more. We regularly donate to United Way, THRIVE, etc. Needless to say, we do a lot of fundraising, including two “Take Your Pick” ticket sales campaigns, our golf tournament, the Bell Celebrity Skate, and Battle of the Sections.”
There are many benefits to becoming a member. Goodall shares, “In addition to a ‘feel-good reward’ for helping the causes we support, we enjoy the camaraderie and friendships that are formed. Often, strong mutual business relationships are created that provide additional professional opportunities from within our Rotary community.”
Goodall adds, “My personal satisfaction has grown by working with a fun group of volunteers! It’s empowering and energizing. It’s also inspiring to see our mark around our great community with park equipment, restoration of the arch by City Hall, and putting on perhaps the biggest party of the year, ROTARYFEST.”
