Passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 the age of 48. The son of the late Gerry and the late Diane Lariviere (nee Chlebus). Brother of Mike, Tammy Wright (Brian) and Michelle Wilkins (Brian). Beloved Uncle of Jordan and Reagan Lariviere, Samantha Tulloch, and Hunter Berto. Father of Alexander Sebastien of Australia and loved nephew and cousin to many.

Born in Sault Ste. Marie and growing up in Harriston Ontario, John was truly a sensitive soul with a very kind heart and he struggled over a number of years with both addiction and mental health which impacted many of his relationships. Despite these challenges, he was loved by many people who continually supported him in trying to help him to be his best self, seeing the sweet, caring, sensitive soul he was. He was supported and encouraged throughout the years by his parents, along with his Uncle Randy and Auntie Terry (Moore). However, it was John’s brother Mike who always extended ultimate love and kindness and opened his home to John on many occasions. We know that John was ever grateful to Mike for always being there for him and for the unwavering love he extended as a brother. In turn, John made it clear that he truly loved Mike’s daughters more than words can express.

John loved sports and would never turn down an opportunity to have a conversation about the Blue Jays or Maple Leafs. He was well read, progressive, funny, introspective and truly cared about others. He wrote poetry, played guitar and adored animals. Following the passing of his Mom in 2024, John was determined to battle his addictions and with the help of some amazing family, and friends he was able to stay clean and sober throughout the past year. He was supported especially during this time by his loving cousin Jody and her husband Dallas (Schmidt). Unfortunately, time and a number of health conditions caught up with John, as his body was no longer able to sustain the years of wear and tear.

Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life was held to honour John. He will now rest with his Mom and Dad, whom he loved dearly and he will live on through the kindness and sensitivity his family will continue to show as they remember John.

John’s family would like to thank all the wonderful people who helped him especially over the past year and would encourage anyone who is able to make a donation to the Ken Brown Recovery Home Foundation or Helping Hands Sault Ste. Marie. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
