Representing Canada on the international stage, Brad Jacobs has another gold medal.
The medal comes following an unbeaten run at the 2025 United States Steel Pan Continental Curling Championships that wrapped up Sunday afternoon in Virginia, Minn.
The Calgary-based Jacobs rink, which includes third Marc Kennedy, second Brett Gallant, lead Ben Hebert, and alternate Tyler Tardi, beat American John Shuster 7-3 in the tournament final on Sunday.
With the gold medal, Canada has won the event three times in the four-year history of the tournament.
Jacobs called the title win “a game of patience.”
“We kind of talked about that at the fifth-end break after we gave up the deuce,” Jacobs said in a release issued by Curling Canada. “We had a deuce set up (in the second end) and we didn't convert it early on. That was frustrating. So, it was just about managing our emotions and not letting that get the best of us. I think that was a really professional win by our team.”
Jacobs added that he felt the tournament is setting the team up for major events coming up this season.
“We played some tough teams here, especially in the last couple of games,” Jacobs said. “Great crowd, great ice, and I think it was a great simulation for the next Slam and the Trials. It's always great to throw the Maple Leaf on, and it makes you a little bit more hungry and motivated to go and try to wear it again.”
