After 74 years, Gerlinde Wilma Haefele passed away peacefully at ARCH with her daughter and best friend Kerstin by her side.
Married to the late Manfred Haefele, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2019.
Born November 15, 1950, in Guntersblum Germany. To the late Jacob (Maria) Christ and Margot Roemer.
Mother of Kerstin (Kevin) MacKay and Torsten (Angie) Haefele. Grandmother of Nate and Maddy.
Sister to Hiltrude (Detlef), Helga (Bernd) Elke (late Steffan) and Rainer (late Bitta) of Germany. Sister-in-law to Heidie (late Richard) Coddington of the USA. Aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Gerlinde, Manfred and their 2 children immigrated to Canda in 1975. Gerlinde was at the Sault Area Hospital for 31.5 years. Later in life, she founded Country Collectables Floral Design and was well known for her organization of charitable craft shows.
Known for her determination and strong will which helped her through a lot of adversary and pain. She had a great love of the outdoors and dogs. She lead a joyful, fulfilling life.
A heartfelt thank you to all of her friends and all the caretakers for the support and love.
She lost her final breath to cancer.
Family and friends are invited to Zion Lutheran Church (189 Upton Rd) on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 2:00-4:00. A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 with Pastor Brad Mittleholtz officiating. A gathering will follow.
Memorial donations may be made to ARCH, the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Cancer Care Fund. Payable by cheque or online.
