ALGOMA REPERTORY THEATRE

Algoma Repertory Theatre will present Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring Nov. 19 to 22, at Quattro Hotel as Dinner Theatre and is excited to announce the local actors who will bring this celebrated dark comedy to life.

Directed by Marc Beaudette, Arsenic and Old Lace is a dark comedy that blends farcical chaos with a pinch of romance and a dash of murder.

Jarett Mills stars as Mortimer Brewster, a seemingly average man enjoying a happy life. He has a steady job at a prominent New York newspaper and is visiting his sweet, spinster aunts—played by Carol McLean and Catharina Christenson—to announce his engagement to Elaine Harper (Ashley Hooey).

Mortimer has always known his family was a little eccentric. His brother Teddy (Jay Faught), who lives with the aunts, believes he’s Teddy Roosevelt, and his maniacal brother Jonathan (Alex Campana)—who now bears a striking resemblance to Boris Karloff—makes a sudden return, accompanied by the peculiar Dr. Einstein (Tim Bass).

Mortimer’s world is turned upside down when he discovers that his beloved aunts have been quietly poisoning lonely old men for years, and plan to bury their latest victim that very night. As chaos unfolds, Mortimer must protect his fiancée, help his aunts, and somehow keep his own sanity intact.

The rest of the cast—Aiden Allen, Chas Calam, Mark Fisher, Chris Horsepool, Wayne A. Thompson and Mario Tores—round out this ensemble, bringing to life one of theatre’s most beloved farces. Arsenic and Old Lace remains a timeless favourite, delighting audiences with its wit and madcap energy.

Tickets are now available. They can be purchased on Eventbrite at www.ARTinSSM.com or by calling Marc Beaudette at 705-943-9519.
