A 24-year-old has been charged with operation while impaired and dangerous operation.
Sault Ste. Marie Police noticed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Wallace Terrace and Fifth Avenue early Sunday morning.
After speaking with the driver following a traffic stop, officers asked them to provide a breath sample, which they allegedly failed.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Police Services Building, where police say multiple breath samples registered over the legal limit.
Connor Grenier is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and/or Drug
- Dangerous Operation
- Fail to Surrender Insurance Card (under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available (under the Liquor Licence and Control Act)
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence (under the Highway Traffic Act)
- Amber Light – Fail to Stop (under the Highway Traffic Act)
- Speeding 1 – 49 km/h over posted limit (under the Highway Traffic Act)
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled back in court on Nov. 17.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Grenier is considered innocent until proven guilty.
