Executive Director
The CDC for Sault Ste. Marie and Area is a community-based nonprofit which is committed to fostering sustainable economic growth, diversification and business development for the benefit of our catchment area centering in Sault Ste. Marie extending to Tarbutt to the east, Montreal River to the north.
Through federal support, the organisation administers a Local Investment Fund to assist new or existing small businesses with start-up, expansion or stabilization plans that maintain or create jobs. In addition, the CDC offers a Community Economic Development Fund to assist area nonprofits with their Community Development goals.
Position Overview
Reporting to a volunteer Board of Directors, the Executive Director is the operational leader of CDC and is responsible for achieving the vision, strategies and performance targets. The Executive Director acts as a resource person to the Board of Directors and any other committees established by the Board of Directors, as well as leading staff to ensure the effective implementation and operation of the programs of the Corporation.
Responsibilities include managing the CDC’s business affairs, in addition to its performance targets, include building productive and collaborative community relationships with various levels of government and other stakeholders. The Executive Director is responsible for managing 2 full-time staff at its office location in Sault Ste. Marie.
Experience
The Executive Director must possess the following:
• Preference of at least 3 to 5 years prior experience as an Executive Director or equivalent senior management position
It is an asset if the Executive Director possesses the following:
• Financial, lending business and business counselling experience
• Not-for-profit experience &/or knowledge in the areas of financial management and Board Relations
• Demonstrate experience in the areas of: proposal writing, project management, collaboration, human resource management, familiarity with current IT software applications
Educational requirements
• Ideally a post-secondary degree, diploma or designation related to business, business development, financial planning, lending and management.
• Ideally a post-secondary degree, diploma or designation related to Community Economic and Community Development

The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000 and will be based on experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is also available.
