JOB SUMMARY

The Job Developer plays a pivotal role in connecting job seekers, particularly those with barriers to employment, to meaningful work opportunities. Using a relationship-building and solution-focused approach, the Job Developer actively engages employers to understand their workforce needs, identify opportunities, and co-create employment solutions. They will leverage their labour market knowledge and networking skills to generate job leads, negotiate placements, and support clients throughout their employment journey to ensure long-term job retention.

This position is about helping employers access untapped talent while supporting job seekers to achieve sustainable employment. The Job Developer builds trust, opens doors, and maintains long-term, reciprocal partnerships with employers. They use a consultative process to ensure that employer needs are heard, potential is matched with purpose, and job seekers are supported into and through employment.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employer Outreach, Engagement & Client Support and Advocacy
• Research and identify potential local employers and maintain a prospect list aligned with the organization’s client profiles
• Conduct outreach that develops an understanding of employers’ business challenges, hiring needs, barriers, and gaps
• Build strong, trust-based relationships with employers and nurture long-term, reciprocal relationships for future hiring
• Build strong, supportive relationships with clients through empathetic communication, consistent follow-up, and advocacy
• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date knowledge base of the local labour market
• Customize and present proposals that match employer needs with client strengths or solutions
• Monitor client and employer relationships through consistent check-ins with a focus on retention
• Collaborate with team members to support clients and employers with complex needs
• Ability to manage multiple employer relationships across the engagement cycle
• Other duties as assigned

Administration and Data Management
• Maintain and update client case notes, case management plans and database systems
• Compile, organize, and file documents in accordance with established processes and file format standards
• Ensure all data entry is accurate, complete, and aligns with privacy, security, and confidentiality standards set by SCCC
• Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, collecting, compiling and completing relevant documentation
• Participate in data system training and stay current with data entry requirements and processes
• Utilize digital communication platforms such as email, Microsoft Teams, and shared calendars to ensure timely, clear, and organized communication with internal and external stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience

LANGUAGE
• Proficiency in English, both oral and written
• Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
• Experience in engaging and negotiating with employers is highly preferred
• Confidence to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
• Experience supporting vulnerable and marginalized individuals with an understanding of complex needs, mental health, and disability-related barriers
• Strong communication skills, including active listening, persuasive messaging, and the ability to address objections and shift perceptions effectively
• Excels in professional writing and respectful verbal interactions with a wide range of stakeholders
• Strong understanding of diverse backgrounds and the unique challenges faced by equity-deserving groups
• Skilled in Motivational Interviewing and de-escalation techniques to effectively engage and support clients
• Proven ability to deliver trauma-informed and culturally appropriate support and ensure that services are relevant, respectful, and tailored to the unique needs of clients
• Ability to adapt to changing situations in a calm and professional manner
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
• Experience handling sensitive and confidential information
• Proven ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
• Committed to supporting team members, fostering a respectful, inclusive, and solutions-focused workplace culture
• Able to design and facilitate workshops and orientation sessions
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Workspace and Adobe Reader (including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PDFs), with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to other digital platforms, tools, and content management systems as required

OTHER
• Satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check
• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and clean driving record are required
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Ability to work outside of regular business hours when required
