For many families in Sault Ste. Marie, ARCH Hospice has become a home away from home during life’s most tender, difficult moments and its mission has touched countless lives.

From the moment its doors opened, ARCH Hospice has gone above and beyond, providing residents with comfort, dignity and individualized care, offering families a supportive environment.

ARCH Hospice continues to deliver high-quality end-of-life care to families across the Algoma District, completely free of charge. The comfort and well-being of residents and their loved ones, emotionally, spiritually and physically, is their top priority.

Since services are provided at no cost, access isn’t limited by a person’s ability to pay. This inclusive care model is especially important in healthcare, where financial barriers may prevent people from getting the support they need.

Clients are always embraced as part of the ARCH family. Every milestone, every challenge and every moment of grief is shared, creating a sense of community and belonging.

Through compassionate service and consistent meaningful support for families, ARCH Hospice stands out as a worthy recipient for this year’s Hall of Fame Award for the SooToday Community Builders Awards, presented by Heritage Home Hardware.

“It’s humbling to know that we were even nominated and that we’re so well-thought of,” shared Kim-Streich Poser, interim executive director at ARCH Hospice. “This will help to reassure and validate the work that the staff and volunteers do. They do such good work for our community.”

“What I love the most about ARCH is the people,” she continued. “You can have a building with the most up-to-date equipment and modern technology, but it really comes down to the values and qualities of the people that are there.”

“Thank you very much for this recognition and acknowledgement. It means a lot to all of the people who work to make ARCH such a special place,” Streich-Poser added.

At its core, ARCH Hospice is a symbol of compassion and community spirit in Sault Ste. Marie. With the incredible dedication of its team and the unwavering support of the community, they’ve built something lasting: a place to find comfort, connection in life’s most challenging times.

“ARCH wouldn’t be ARCH without all of the community support that we get. In recognizing us as a community builder, I think the community also needs to congratulate themselves for all the things that they do to support us,” she said.

The Hall of Fame award celebrates an individual or group whose visionary efforts have had a profound and lasting impact on the community. Their significant contributions have enriched the fabric of the community, whether through the creation of transformative programs, initiatives or institutions.

Congratulations to the team at ARCH Hospice!

The Hall of Fame award is proudly sponsored by Daniel J. Fremlin Building Group.
